A Look At Louis Farrakhan

Tom Wallace

There is a video on Facebook where Louis Farrakhan seems to be giving a testimony of his conversion to Jesus Christ. Does this mean that one of the major Muslim leaders in the US has converted to Christianity? We will analyze his testimony to see if it is true.

Farrakhan is the head of the Nation of Islam. The organization was started in the 1940s by Elijah Muhammad, who claimed to be a prophet of Allah. This put him outside of traditional Islam because Muhammad was the final prophet. The Nation of Islam is a cult in the Islamic world. This does not mean they are not pertinent to the study of Islam because they are very influential. They are a black racist group. In the 1950s and 60s we had the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement. Martin Luther King spoke for the Christian side, and Malcolm X spoke for the Muslims side of the black Civil Rights Movement.

Farrakhan stepped into the leadership position when Malcolm X stepped down. He has been the head for some 40 years. The following testimony was given at a so-called Christian church in Atlanta, Ga. It is a black church that preaches black liberation theology. I’ll let him speak for himself.

Farrakhan’s Testimony

I Know That My Redeemer Liveth. My Jesus is Alive.

Farrakhan: “My Jesus is Alive!”

I Know That My Redeemer Liveth. My Jesus is Alive.

Posted by Minister Louis Farrakhan on Tuesday, August 22, 2017

Here is the text of what he said:

“I’m gonna say it, I know that my Redeemer liveth.

I know, I am not guessing.  That my Jesus is alive.

I know that my redeemer liveth and because he lives, I know that I too will pass through the portal of death.   Yet death will not afflict me.

So I say to the Devil… I know I got to pay a price for what I have been teaching all these years.

You can have the money, you can have the clothes, you can have the suit, you can have the house.

But me, you can’t have.”

I found this video on Facebook, and I shared it on my personal account. I asked the question, If this is an announcement of his testimony, shouldn’t there be certain things that would follow? If these things followed his testimony, then I would be willing to accept that he has become a Christian. We can’t take this testimony without evaluating it. He has had 15 years since this was given to show a changed life.

We do need to realize that God can save the enemy, look at the Apostle Paul. He was the main terrorist in his day. He was killing Christians in the name of the Jewish faith. He had letters authorizing him to go and seize Christians and have them killed. He was converted on the road to Damascus, and ended up writing most of the New Testament. God can do amazing things, and I pray that Farrakhan will get saved.

The question is, what is he really saying and teaching in this testimony? Do you remember Obama’s testimony? For 20 years he sat under the preaching of Jeremiah Wright, in Chicago, who also preaches black liberation theology form a pseudo-Christian point of view. Louis Farrakhan preaches black liberation from a pseudo-Islamic point of view. I bring this up because Obama’s testimony was very similar to Farrakhan’s.

You will notice that he is talking about “his Jesus.” The Jesus of Islam is not the same Jesus of Christianity. This must be kept in mind as we listen to him. He said:

I know I got to pay a price for what I have been teaching all these years.

This really perked up my ears. I thought he was going to say that he had been teaching a false doctrine, and that he had been leading people down the wrong path. I thought he was repenting of his false teaching and calling his followers to the truth. It would be wonderful if that is what he was saying. As I listened more carefully to what he said, I found something I missed at first. After saying death would not afflict him, he said, “So I say to the Devil…” He is now addressing the Devil. When he said he would have to pay a price for what he had been teaching, he was addressing the Devil and telling him that he knew he would have a spiritual battle with him. He was not regretting what he has been preaching, he was saying that the Devil is going to be fighting him and he would be in spiritual warfare because of what he has been perching. He then said to the Devil that he can have the money, the cloths, the house, but he can’t have him. There is nothing in this testimony that suggest any change in what he believes and what he teaches.

This was  posted on Farrakhan’s Facebook page, but it is not something recent, it was preached on August 8, 2002, 15 years ago. If there had been a real conversion, we would have heard about it a long time ago, and there would have been a change in his actions and teachings. This is not a conversion testimony at all.

This was posted just to muddy the waters. Muslims believe that Jesus is alive, so it is not strange for a Muslim to say that Jesus is alive. There are two verses in the Qur’an that say that Jesus is alive. Here is a loose translation:

For Allah could see that Isa (Jesus) was in trouble, so he rescued him and took him into Heaven, not before taking his image off of him and placing it on another, and that person went to the cross to fool everyone to think that Isa died, but he did not.

Islam teaches that Jesus did not die, and that he is alive in Heaven, rescued by Allah, and that he will come again to the earth. He will be the prophet that will come with the Mahdi, the Islamic messiah. His is not the Islamic messiah.

This statement about Jesus bing the redeemer, and being alive, is the same one that Obama gave in his testimony at the Saddleback forum in 2007 or 2008. We will play that testimony tomorrow as we analyze the muddy watter testimony of these two men.

During what was called the Saddleback Forum at Rick Warren’s Saddleback church in 2008, Obama gave a testimony of his supposed salvation. I found interesting that some of the same things were said by Farrakhan in his supposed conversion testimony. We need to look closely at this kind of testimony because some Muslim groups have learned to us Christian language to lead people to believe they are Christians.

Obama claims to have converted to Christianity from Islam, yet we have never heard him renounce his faith in Islam. According to Islamic doctrine, you are still a Muslim unless you formally renounce your Islamic faith. Many Muslims still view Obama as a Muslim and we have shown that he has told Muslims privately that he is a Muslim. Even his Pastor of 20 years, Jeremiah Wright, has said recently that he doubts that Obama is a Christian.

Here is what Obama said at the Saddleback Forum when he was running for President:

OBAMA: As a starting point, it means I believe in — that Jesus Christ died for my sins, and that I am redeemed through him. That is a source of strength and sustenance on a daily basis. Yes, I know that I don’t walk alone. And I know that if I can get myself out of the way, that I can maybe carry out in some small way what he intends. And it means that those sins that I have on a fairly regular basis, hopefully will be washed away

This was his answer to Rick Warren’s question on his faith. Let’s analyze what he actually said. First he said “I believe in — that Jesus Christ died for my sins and that I am redeemed.” At the end he said “And it means that those sins that I have on a fairly regular basis, hopefully will be washed away.” It does sound like a Christian testimony, even though it is a very poor one. If Christ has saved you, it is not that your sins might be washed way, they have been washed away.

Let me give  you Farrakhan’s testimony from yesterday for comparison:

“I’m gonna say it, I know that my Redeemer liveth.

I know, I am not guessing.  That my Jesus is alive.

I know that my redeemer liveth and because he lives, I know that I too will pass through the portal of death.   Yet death will not afflict me.”

People think that Farrakhan is saying that Christ is his Redeemer. He went on to say:

So I say to the Devil… I know I got to pay a price for what I have been teaching all these years.

At first I missed that he was talking to the Devil when he said he knew he had to pay a price. He was not regretting his Islamic teaching, he was saying that the Devil would make him pay a price for teaching what he taught.

Let me talk more about the part where he said, “My Redeemer liveth,” and that Jesus is alive. We have two men from Chicago, one claiming to be a Muslim, and one claiming to be a former Muslim who has converted to Christianity, that are saying that Jesus is alive. First of all, all Muslims believe that Jesus is alive, they believe he never died, he was taken to Heaven by Allah.

There are, however, a couple of passages in the Qur’an that say Jesus died. This is one of the many contradictions in the Qur’an. The point is, Muslims believe that Jesus is alive. Where we get into new territory is when they talk about Jesus as a redeemer. This is not something that would normally be said by a Muslim. We need to remember that the Farrakhan brand of Islam is a cult within Islam.

Farrakhan’s brand of Islam has adopted is black liberation theology. Obama’s pastor, Jeremiah Wright, preaches black liberation theology under the guise of Christianity, and Farrakhan preaches it under the guise of Islam. Both of these preachers are false teachers, and are wolves in sheep’s clothing. Obama sat under this teaching for 20 years, and Farrakhan has been preaching it for 40 years. They have learned to use language that sounds “Christian,” so the undiscerning Christian will be gullible enough to think they are preaching a message that they can agree with.

Farrakhan often preaches in American black churches all around the country. Many of them are black liberation churches and he is a welcome speaker, even though they are called Christian churches. He is welcome because he is preaching the same thing that is being preached in these churches. Undiscerning and unconverted “Christians” are falling for what he is teaching. I deliberately used the word “unconverted” because many who call themselves Christians are just that, unconverted. Listen to what Jesus had to say in Matthew 7:

Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and in thy name done many wonderful works? And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Matthew 7:22-23)

There are many unconverted people in so-called Christian churches which are preaching false doctrine in the name of Christ. Jesus will tell them on Judgment Day that He never knew them.

I have long maintained that Obama is not a true Christian. He may think he is, he was taught that he can be a Christian and a Muslim at the same time. His pastor of 20 years, Jeremiah Wright, said as much, which we have documented in the past.

Is Louis Farrakhan a Christian? Absolutely not!

The video we showed yesterday was recorded on August 8, 2002, 15 years ago. Farrakhan has not renounced his Muslim faith, nor has he apologized or called his followers to repent and turn to Jesus as their Saviour. The Muslim Jesus is entirely different form the Jesus of the Bible. The Muslim Jesus is just a man, he didn’t die on the cross, he didn’t raise from the grave, he is certainly not the Son of God, and he is not God in the flesh. He is just a man who was a prophet of Allah. He performed miracles, he was born of a virgin, but that is where the similarity stops.

The Jesus of the Bible is Emmanuel, God with us. He is God manifest in the flesh. He is God, very God. He came to shed His blood and be the Saviour of the world. He died on the cross for our sins, He rose again for our justification. Islam rejects this, and I doubt that Obama really understands the Gospel message.
