Why is Morality not Discussed in the Debate of School Shootings?

America is fiercely divided in the debate concerning the problem of School Shootings. This division is along political lines. It seems that each side is more interested in using the killing of our children to reach their political goals than in truly protecting our children. The solution will not be found in taking away our freedoms through gun control or through locking down access to our schools. Until it is understood that the real problem is not something external, but is a lack of moral standards in the hearts and consciences of our youth, no real and lasting solution will be found.

THE BLAME GAME!!!

Each side of the political spectrum is blaming the other for the present situation. The Left is blaming the NRA lobby and 2nd Amendment Gun Lovers for these crimes. The Right is blaming the Left for making schools a Gun Free Zones, making our children vulnerable, and not having the proper protection in our schools.

THE POLITICAL BLAME GAME

The Left seizes these tragic events as fodder to fuel the fire of their arguments and to sway the hearts of those who are hurting toward Gun Control. They will not miss an opportunity to demand more gun control or to berate the Right as heartless and uncaring.

The victims are lost in the arguments. The deaths of our children become leverage to the Left to take away the rights of the people to protect themselves.

Our children are being indoctrinated by the government in our public schools, the liberal media, and our colleges. They are being taught that government knows best. The individual needs to surrender to the all wise, all knowing, government which seems to be under the illusion that it is god.

  • The government wants the citizens to be weak and dependent on it to meet all their needs

  • Retirement – Citizens can’t save for retirement, so government will take their money and do it for them

  • Health care – Citizens cannot make their own health care decisions, so the government will make them

  • Self-Protection – Citizens can’t protect themselves, so government will take away their power and right to do so, and will protect them

The Right still holds to the traditional values and principles of law. It believes that citizens are to be Independent and responsible for their own well being and success. It understands there are some things citizens cannot provide for themselves like national defense and infrastructure, but it believes in limited government and equal Justice under the law.

Many opine their beliefs on the talk shows and news media about the senseless school shootings. Questions are being asked, but few answers are being offered.

  • Why are our children killing children?

  • How did a nation get to this point?

Rarely does a pundit wade into these debates with discussion on the morality of our nation. When they do, a look of horror falls upon the room as if they had tried to open the forbidden Pandora’s box.

Discussion of morality has become taboo, forbidden. As long as morality is a forbidden subject in the discussion, we will not find a real solution to the shootings in our schools.

Why does the Left run from the morality issue like the plague? It is because it will place blame in the conscience of man, and it demands only one conclusion, we have abandoned God’s law and God’s righteous precepts. If we are going to see an end to these disastrous problems, we must turn back to the Bible and the law of Almighty God.

LET’S ARGUE THE CASE IN THE COURT OF COMMON SENSE

My case is simple; My opening Statement would go something like this:

Our Nation has sunk to the level where our kids are killing kids on a regular basis. It is a result of our abandonment of God and his righteous moral standards. We teach our children that they descended from animals, and we are appalled when they act like animals. By this I mean, animals take the life of others without any signs of remorse and conscience pain. Kids are killing kids without signs of remorse and show no signs of a conscience.

We have taught them that God is a myth and have kicked Him out of schools by banning public prayers. We removed the Bible from our campuses and banned God’s Ten Commandments. We have removed the standard of right and wrong and the law that says thou shalt not kill. Is it really a surprise that our schools have become killing grounds?

We teach our children that there are no absolutes, so there is nothing that is absolutely right or wrong. We teach them that truth is a relative concept. Truth is what you want to make it to be. A boy can be a girl and a girl can be a boy. You cannot fail so we will give you all a trophy to make you think you are a winner even when you don’t win.

These illusions are folly, and the kids know it! Yet we keep selling the folly because the alternative is to accept that there is a higher moral code that was written in our hearts. To accept this higher moral code means the liberals and the left were wrong, and that would be impossible for them to admit.

Let me lay out some evidence that kids killing kids are a result of God being kicked out of our schools.

First School shooting on record in America was in Greencastle, PA – July 26, 1764. Four Lenape Indians killed schoolmaster Enoch Brown and 9 students. Two others were shot but survived.

From 1764 – 1962 = 198 years

  • 122 Shooting incidents

  • 104 Deaths / 67 shot but survived.

  • Ratio Every 2 years = 1 dead

After 1962 = 56 Years

  • 376 School Shooting Incidents

  • 500 Deaths / 860 shot but survived.

  • Ratio of 9 Killed every Year.

Something greater than the law must control the passions of men. That something is biblical morality. Nothing else will do!

We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.

the precepts of philosophy laid hold of action only (but Jesus) pushed his scrutinies into the heart of man, erected his tribunal in the region of his thoughts, and he purified the waters at the fountainhead.

Washington said

Let it simply be asked, Where is the security for life, for reputation and for property, if the sense of religious obligation desert?

THE CONCLUSION OF THE WHOLE MATTER

The problem of school shootings, and the other societal problems in our country, can only be solved if we understand the underlying source. It is our departure from the founding principles of this nation. Those fundamental principles were the principles of biblical morality.

It would be easy of only the Left was trying to rewrite history to say that America was not built on Christian principles, but this is not so. The majority of the Right, although not as blatantly, has also bought into this lie.

Our founders were right about our constitution. It is totally inadequate for governing a people who do not hold to biblical morality. Until we return to the Scriptures, there is no hope for America.
