In Habakkuk, the prophet is warning the people of coming judgment. We find the reason for this judgment in verse 4:

Therefore the law is slacked, and judgment doth never go forth: for the wicked doth compass about the righteous; therefore wrong judgment proceedeth. (Habakkuk 1:4)

This is very similar to what is happening in our nation today. When the law is not enforced or respected, when we don’t live by the law no matter who we are or what position we hold, trouble will come. When judgment doesn’t go forth and that which should be judged is not, a people will pay a heavy price. Isn’t this what we are seeing in America today?

I have never seen a time where Washington was so corrupt. Lawlessness, a lack of upholding the law, and corruption are rampant.

Habakkuk says; “the wicked doth compass about the righteous.” This means that the wicked prevail and the righteous are pushed down. The righteous will follow the law and be stepped on by those who don’t.

Finally, when judgment is handed out, it will be the wrong kind of judgment. What is wrong and should be punished is not, and what is good is being punished.

God warned us that a time like this would come. He pronounced woe upon those who do this.

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter! (Isaiah 5:20)

There are some thoughts I want to share with you based upon Habakkuk 1:4. For about 10 years I have been warning America that judgment is coming because of our sin. We have become a rebellious people. We have thrown God out of our government, our schools, and even many of our churches. The Word of God is not really preached anymore, many preachers are just preaching man’s opinions. They have invented a god of their own imagination. The God of the Bible has been rejected.

We live in a day where we have angered God and we deserve His wrath. Our sin is great before God, and I believe He will bring a number of calamities upon us. George Mason, one of the framers of our Constitution, said:

How does God judge nations?… As nations cannot be rewarded or judged in the next world, so they must be in this world by an inevitable chain of causes and effects. Providence punishes national sins with national calamities.

I believe he was absolutely right and God’s punishment will come through national calamities. We are seeing economic calamities. When the economic crisis hit in 2008, what was our problem? It was spending and debt. What was our solution? More spending and more debt. It has not been fixed and the prognosticators are telling us that we are facing another recession and we haven’t even crawled out of the last one.

We have seen ecological calamities. I see an enemy that has risen up against us, Islam. This last one is the focus of Fortress of Faith.

I believe there is the beginning of a perfect storm coming. I haven’t spent must time on the liberalism in the government of this nation. There are some things that really alarm me.

The left is doing all it can to try to stop the sale of guns. If they get their way, they will confiscate the guns we already own.

For those of you who live outside of America, and maybe even some of you who live in America, let me explain something to you. Europeans have trouble understanding America’s love affair with guns because they are so lost in liberalism. I am afraid that some of you in Canada don’t understand this either. Let me explain why we have the right to bear arms in America.

When our framers formed our government, they studied the governments of other nations and realized government, at its core, naturally wants to have all power and will assume the position of god because it has the power to take life and give life, to take property or permit people to keep their property. A government must have checks and balances or it will become tyrannical.

Our government was designed with God over everything. The people are next in line, and the people choose who will govern them. The other governments had God, then government (usually a king), then the people. The governments became tyrants because they thought they were appointed by God. Giving the people the right to keep and bear arms and form militias, the Second Amendment, was a check to prevent the government from having too much power and becoming tyrannical.

When a government tries to take away the Second Amendment rights from law-abiding patriotic Americans who know the Constitution, it is a threat to our other freedoms. The Second Amendment was not given to allow us to hunt, it was to give us the ability to defend ourselves against a tyrannical government.

If they try to take away our guns, many Americans will take to the streets to defend our rights. I feel this is exactly what the liberals want. If the patriots do rise up, I am afraid they might fall at the hands of the liberals.

Many believe that liberal administrations will try to seize power, and if there is an uprising they would declare martial law and not even have elections. I would not go so far as to say this is going to happen, but it is a real possibility.

If this should happen, the liberal President would set himself up as a dictator, the Constitution would be suspended, and there would be a revolution in this nation. If this happened, I hope that the patriots would win, but I fear that they would not. I am not saying this will happen, I am only saying that it could.

What does this mean? Nowhere do we see America in Bible prophecy. Some people tell us they find America in prophecy, but let’s be honest, to do so is a stretch and even if we are there, it is in a very limited role.

One thing we do know, when the Antichrist does come to rule, he will rule as a dictator. You cannot have a world-wide dictatorship if democracy is still practiced in America. Somewhere in our future, democracy will come to an end. Some believe that when the Rapture comes the world will be thrown into such turmoil that a leader will come to power, maybe through the UN, and all governments will be demolished. This is one possibility, but what if America implodes and a dictatorship forms here before the Rapture?

I believe we are living in very interesting times. We are seeing many things that could contribute to the end of this nation.

There is another possibility. If there is an attempt and the patriots, conservatives, and Christians win, we might have an opportunity to hit the reset button. We may turn this nation back to its foundational principles and to its Constitution, with Jesus Christ honored as Lord and Saviour. We may be able to fix some things and rebuild this nation as a Christian nation. This can only happen if we, who call ourselves Christians, return to the holy Scriptures, and stand for righteousness in our nation.
