The Top Seven Operations for Israel in 2024

Israel’s military operations are known for their precision, stealth, and strategic impact. In
2024, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) carried out a series of daring and decisive
missions that not only showcased their military prowess but also sent shockwaves
through enemy ranks. These seven operations illustrate Israel’s ongoing battle to
defend its citizens and neutralize threats from various militant groups, primarily Hamas
and Hezbollah.

  1. Operation Golden Hand (February 2024)

In February, 123 Israeli soldiers embarked on a high-risk mission deep into enemy
territory in Rafah, Gaza. Known as Operation Golden Hand, this covert nighttime
operation aimed to rescue two Israeli hostages held on the second floor of a building.
The soldiers infiltrated approximately 10 miles into hostile territory under the cover of
darkness. With stealth and precision, they ascended to the second floor, secured the
hostages, and extracted them back to safety without any loss of life. The operation’s
success reinforced Israel’s reputation for executing complex, high-stakes missions with
    minimal detection.
  2. Operation Wall of Fire (June 2024)

Operation Wall of Fire in June 2024 aimed to rescue four Israeli hostages held in two
separate locations in Nuseirat, Gaza. The challenge was that both sites had to be
breached simultaneously to avoid the hostages being killed. However, the team’s cover
was blown early in the mission, complicating the operation. Despite the setback, IDF
forces managed to free all hostages. During the extraction, the team’s getaway vehicle
broke down, forcing them to take shelter in a nearby house. As hundreds of Hamas
fighters swarmed the area, the Israel Air Force provided critical support, unleashing a
massive bombardment dubbed the “Wall of Fire” to create a safe corridor. Tragically,
one IDF soldier was lost during the operation, but all four hostages were rescued.
  3. Operation Fatal Phone Call (July 2024)

Following a devastating Hezbollah rocket attack on July 22 that killed 12 Druze children
in the Golan Heights, Israel launched Operation Fatal Phone Call to target one of
Hezbollah’s most notorious figures—Al Fukr. Al Fukr, who had been wanted by the U.S.
for his involvement in killing 241 Americans in the 1980s, was hiding in a basement in
Beirut. Due to the high risk of civilian casualties, Israeli intelligence devised an
innovative plan: a phone call was made to Al Fukr, giving him a code that sent him
running to his safe room on the top floor of the building. Once he was isolated, a single
precision airstrike eliminated him. This operation marked the beginning of Israel’s
    attrition campaign against Hezbollah.
  4. The Assassination of Ismail Haniyeh (Tehran)

In a dramatic blow to both Hamas and Iran, Israel assassinated Hamas leader Ismail
Haniyeh during his stay in Tehran. Haniyeh was attending the inauguration of Iran’s
new president as a guest at a heavily guarded IRGC (Iranian Revolutionary Guard
Corps) compound. However, four months earlier, during the funeral of Iran’s former
president, Israeli agents managed to plant explosives in Haniyeh’s guest house. While
he slept, the explosives were detonated, killing Hamas’ top leader. The strike not only
crippled Hamas’ leadership but also demonstrated Israel’s reach deep into Iran, leaving
a chilling message to Tehran that even their most secure facilities were vulnerable.
  5. Operation Deep Layer Weapons (September 2024)

In September 2024, Israel targeted Hezbollah’s underground weapons manufacturing
facilities in Syria in Operation Deep Layer Weapons. Hezbollah had been stockpiling
smart missiles in deeply buried bunkers, making them virtually immune to airstrikes.
Israeli special forces undertook a daring mission, flying undetected into Syria by
helicopter, taking out Syrian air defenses, and infiltrating the bunkers. Once inside, they
gathered critical intelligence and planted explosives, destroying the facility from within.
This successful operation significantly disrupted Hezbollah’s missile supply and struck a
blow to Iran’s military ambitions in the region.
  6. The Beeper Bombs (September 2024)

In one of the most astonishing operations in recent military history, Israel’s Beeper
Bombs mission dismantled a significant portion of Hezbollah’s command structure.
Years earlier, Israel had set up dummy communication companies that provided
services to terrorist groups. These companies supplied over 5,000 beepers to
Hezbollah, all of which were packed with explosives. On September 17, Israel triggered
the explosives simultaneously, killing or disabling over 2,000 militants. Anticipating that
Hezbollah would switch to walkie-talkies, Israel had rigged those with more explosives,
killing or injuring hundreds more the following day. The operation left Hezbollah’s
communications network in disarray and dealt a severe blow to its leadership.
  7. Nasrallah Assassination (Beirut)

The culmination of Israel’s 2024 operations was the assassination of Hezbollah leader
Hassan Nasrallah in Beirut. With Hezbollah’s communication network crippled,
Nasrallah was forced to meet face-to-face with his top commanders in a residential
building. Israel seized the opportunity, dropping 80 bombs on the location, killing
Nasrallah and wiping out Hezbollah’s top leadership in one swift strike. The
assassination sent shockwaves through Hezbollah and signaled a severe setback to its
    operational capabilities.

These seven operations highlight Israel’s relentless pursuit of its enemies and its
commitment to safeguarding its citizens. Through a combination of intelligence,
innovation, and military prowess, the IDF has demonstrated its capacity to strike decisively against threats, both near and far.
